The PPA (Professional Publishers Association) is the voice of today’s publishing industry, representing a thriving sector of global, independent, and B2B brands across magazine media.
PPA Next Gen exists to ensure emerging talent helps shape the future of trusted editorial brands. We collaborate with the main PPA Board and industry mentors on pressing issues crucial to the continued success of our industry.
We want to bridge the gap between education and work, reaching young people at the critical moment they decide their future. By nurturing these connections now, we aim to build a competitive talent pipeline to ‘Find Yourself in Publishing’.
We didn’t join the industry or the Next Gen Board to be spectators. We didn’t put our names forward to sit quietly and nod. We are here to challenge assumptions and question “the way things have always been done.” Our focus is on driving real change and bringing the best and brightest new talent into our sector.
Right now, young talent can often struggle to understand what magazine media means in 2026. Our goal is to prove we are also now home to careers in data, digital, product, video, technology, and AI… the list goes on. But it’s not just about specific job roles; it’s about ensuring our teams represent the audiences they serve. We must compete for this talent. We are here to show the Computer Science grad why a media brand is more exciting than a bank. We are here to show the designer why we offer more creativity than an ad agency.
But we can’t just tell you. We have to show you. This is why we have been building our digital platforms and toolkits, and are attending events like What University? & What Career? Live. We want you to join us and discover just how rewarding a career in publishing can be.
