The rail industry is facing critical skills shortages. Launched in 2020, Routes into Rail was created with the goal of being a single source of advice and information on careers offered in the rail industry, in order to draw fresh young faces into rail. It aims to inspire and educate a new generation of talent – providing information to young people on the variety of entry pathways available and showcasing, through multimedia content, the benefits of working in rail.
NSAR is the driving force behind Routes into Rail on behalf of the rail industry. NSAR’s role is to find new and exciting ways to engage with students and career changers and promote rail industry careers via the website, social media channels and various other platforms.
Routes into Rail was set up to be a collaborative venture for the benefit of the whole industry. Closely working with some of the biggest names in the industry such as Network Rail, Colas and HS2, we seek to expand awareness of all the exciting and varied careers in rail. Whether you are looking to begin an entry-level role to gain valuable transferable skills, find work experience programmes, begin an apprenticeship or more, there is a route into rail for everyone.
