The Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden is home to the Royal Opera, Royal Ballet and the orchestra of the Royal Opera House and we employ over 1000 permanent staff and many more freelance staff. We work together as a company to bring stories to our stage in the form of Opera and Ballet.
We are a ‘repertory’ company, which means we produce all the shows that appear on our stages- every costume, prop and piece of scenery is made either in the building or at our workshop in Purfleet in Essex by teams of talented people. Then an army of people make the shows happen on stage and keep the whole company running.
With over 400 performances a year this makes us one of the busiest theatres in Europe. RBO are dedicated to nurturing the next generation of diverse and talented people to ensure we can keep making world class performances. We have a number of training pathways at different levels; from our award winning apprenticeships to work experiences.
