Tarmac is the UK’s leading sustainable building materials and construction solutions business. Our innovative products - everything from aggregates, concrete, offsite manufacture, asphalt, cement and building products - are used to build the world around us and help manufacture essential things we use in our everyday lives, from medicines, food and glass to fresh water and even toothpaste.
Our people have been shaping the world around us for more than 100 years, from the roads we drive on every day, to the buildings, airports, stadiums, offices and hospitals we live in and work in. We’re proud to contribute to projects of all scales; from to some of the UK’s most iconic construction schemes including Wembley Stadium, Heathrow Terminal 5, Blackpool Sea Defences and The Shard, to helping people create their own DIY projects at home with our bagged products.
Pride in our work, the ambition to keep improving and collaboration in how we approach our relationships are key values Tarmac colleagues hold. We want those joining the business to share these values and strive to improve themselves and our business every day.
Tarmac directly employs around 7,000 people across a nationwide network of over 400 sites, and we’re committed to recruiting young people to help build our future. In 2018, 40 new graduates and approximately 70 apprentices will be joining us in a variety of roles across the business. We offer excellent training, career development, competitive salaries, and the opportunity to develop key industry skills, experience and knowledge in a forward-thinking company.
There is a broad range of opportunities to join the business as an apprentice or graduate, including both operational and office based roles. For those who enjoy a hands-on approach, our mechanical engineering or electrical apprentice roles based at a quarry or factory would be ideal. For those into learning about how things run behind the scenes and are interested in the more corporate side of the business, our finance or HR roles offer the chance to learn from a wide network of skilled professionals.
