UWTSD’s students benefit from small classes, supportive tutors and employability-centred courses within the fields of art, science, education, humanities, management and health.

Campuses & Study Locations 

Whether it’s city, country or beach life you love, UWTSD has the learning location for you. UWTSD has three main campuses in south-west Wales – Carmarthen, Lampeter and Swansea - as well as campuses in London & learning centres in Cardiff and Birmingham. Each learning location delivers excellent teaching to a diverse mix of students. UWTSD is equipped to provide a high standard of blended, on-campus and online study.

Known for its friendliness, UWTSD was rated first for Learning Community in Wales in the National Student Survey 2020.

Students appreciate the quality of the teaching and support at UWTSD.  UWTSD was rated 4th for University of the Year and first for Course and Lecturers at the Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCA 2020).

The Student Services Hwb provides a one-stop-shop for support & offers an app that puts information in the palm of your hand. Access to the Hwb app is available to new students prior to the start of term to help make starting university as smooth as possible. There are many sports clubs & societies to join.


Ranked first for Accommodation in the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2020, UWTSD’s range of accommodation offers a safe and secure, but independent, ‘home away from home’. Living in halls puts you at the heart of student life. There are also plenty of options to find private rented accommodation.

International Experience 

Many UWTSD courses offer UK students the opportunity to spend a semester abroad as part of their studies and get the best of both worlds, at home and abroad.

UWTSD’s Institute of Sustainable Practice, Innovation and Resource Effectiveness (INSPIRE) won the Guardian Award for Sustainability in HE in 2013. UWTSD went on to win Best Newcomer (University) in the prestigious Green Gown Awards 2015, plus further nominations and wins. UWTSD aims to make a difference, offering opportunities for students to develop sustainability knowledge through a range of events, apply for an Inspire internship and take part in a certificate programme.

UWTSD offers a variety of scholarships and bursaries to support students. There are several new bursaries, a fund to support Digital Connectivity and increased investment in the University’s Student Hardship Fund.

Careers & Employability

UWTSD is a dynamic university that is constantly considering the skills required for the 21st century world of work, preparing students to pursue their chosen careers when they graduate.

The latest Graduate Outcomes survey (2017/18) says 94% of UWTSD graduates were in employment and/or further study 15 months after completing their studies.

Experienced guidance practitioners can assist with everything from careers ideas to applications, starting a business to getting a work placement.
