Data Science Degree Apprentice

£20,972 + benefits

As a Data Science Apprentice, you’ll join an internationally recognised team and develop skills that will help us protect the UK – all while working towards a degree in Data Science.

This is a chance to develop your programming, applied statistics and communication skills as part of our Intelligence Systems & Analytics (ISA) Group. Working alongside our resident experts, you’ll help us create intelligence products that support national security. We’ll train you to find information in diverse datasets in order to solve complex problems. You’ll see the stories and trends in data, present them clearly and make recommendations that can influence major decisions. Naturally, you’ll always manage data in an ethical, legal way. And you won’t be afraid to explore innovative statistical, algorithmic, predictive, machine learning and artificial intelligence tools and techniques.

You could be performing statistical analysis one day and building data models the next. But, whatever your task, you’ll work closely with the Data Science community, sharing ideas, techniques and experiences.

We’re looking for five A*-C Grade GCSEs or equivalent, including English & Maths. You’ll also need three A-Level standard, or equivalent qualifications, in Mathematics and at least one further STEM-based subject. Bring us these qualifications and the drive to learn and we’ll help you advance in an exciting, paid role.

  

Digital Technical Solutions – Data Analyst Degree Apprentice

If you want to take the first step to becoming one of our world-class experts, a Data Analyst Apprenticeship is the path for you. You’ll work towards a BSc in Digital & Technology Solutions in a fully-funded role, as you learn critical skills that will help us protect the UK.

As a Data Analyst Apprentice, you’ll be part of our Defence & Security Analysis Division. Here, you’ll work on all kinds of interesting military projects in areas that could range from air and maritime; and modelling and simulation; to wargaming; statistics; policy analysis or social sciences. Whatever your focus you’ll learn how to collect, manipulate, analyse, interpret and present data, using the latest tools and techniques. At the same time, you’ll be learning about our domains and discovering how best to work with academia and industry partners as part of a wider team.

You’ll also have the chance to use our tried and tested models, and introduce new novel techniques and analysis. Ultimately, your work will help us provide impartial analysis so we can make high-level decisions.

Got five A*-C Grade GCSEs or equivalent, including English & Maths? That’s a great start. You’ll also need three A-Level standard, or equivalent qualifications, in Mathematics and at least one further STEM-based subject.

 

Embedded Electronic Systems Design and Development Degree Apprentice

Want to learn skills that could help protect the UK? Ready to be part of a team that’s highly regarded around the world? Join us as an apprentice in our Electronic Warfare Technology & Enterprise (EWTE) Group and gain a BSc in Electronic Engineering as you launch a unique career.

If you want a varied role that coversa variety of domains, this is where you need to be. As an apprentice, you’ll help our teams to protect, understand and develop the UK’s use of the electromagnetic environment. We’ll train you in everything from basic electrical theory to the design electronic systems, giving you a wealth of valuable expertise. With your natural drive to understand how things work, you’ll always be hungry for knowledge.

Whatever you’re learning, you’ll thrive on the chance to put your practical and theoretical knowledge to the test. Passionate about engineering, technology and supporting our front line forces, you’ll be motivated to gain a degree that could lead to registration as a Chartered Engineer.

Ordnance, Munitions & Explosives (OME) Degree Apprentice

Develop the practical and academic knowledge to launch a career like no other. As an Ordnance, Munitions & Explosives (OME) Apprentice, you’ll gain valuable skills and a degree in a team with an international reputation. 

Through a mix of academic learning and practical work, you’ll help us tackle projects that help to protect the UK. Our work supports the Home Office, MOD, National Crime Agency, Army, Navy and other government departments, and covers Energetic Technologies, Energetics Analysis and Policing & Security. In other words, you could be looking at anything from the threats posed by different weapons, to explosive detection to forensic investigation. Over the course of the apprenticeship, you’ll take one of four pathways – Technical, Safety, Breakdown & Disposal or Test & Evaluation – based on your natural skills.

We’re looking for five A*-C Grade GCSEs or equivalent, including English & Maths, as well as three A-Level standard, or equivalent qualifications, in Mathematics and at least one further STEM based subject. But it’s a passion for engineering and technology that will prove essential.
