About our apprenticeships, is this the right route for you?
Interested in one of our apprenticeships but not entirely sure what it entails? Well, as an apprentice you’ll be right in the thick of all the action. It’s a great route into the industry. You’ll get the chance to expand your knowledge by attending college one day a week, while constantly discovering new and exciting things and learning from our industry experts on the job. If you’re an individual that can work independently when appropriate and can demonstrate a positive approach to problem solving, then an apprenticeship is the perfect step for you.
However, it doesn’t stop there. The great thing about an apprenticeship is that you’ll be earning a salary straight away while learning, then eventually gaining a professional qualification. You’ll be given continued support as you develop your skills throughout the program and there is no cost for the training you receive.
So, what areas of our business do we offer advanced level apprenticeships?
We have opportunities across the UK within civil engineering, building services engineering, transport planning and business administration.
As a civil engineering technician, you’ll be getting involved in the design, analysis, delivery and overall engineering of many important projects, providing long lasting solutions for everyone involved. Using programmes such as computer aided design and building information management, you’ll learn engineering principles and technics to help design and deliver infrastructure and buildings. If you have a broad skills base then this is certainly the scheme for you! You’ll get to apply your skills to projects in sectors such as water, energy, transportation, geotechnics and many more.
At the end of all your hard work, you’ll have the opportunity to become a qualified engineering technician (EngTech). You’ll also gain a Level 3 Diploma in Civil Engineering for Technicians and a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment.
Building services engineering
This apprenticeship will allow you to develop your skills while supporting our experts with the creation of new buildings, and the improvements and repairs of current buildings. Building services engineers work to produce long lasting, innovative solutions to make sure buildings are not only comfortable, but safe and energy efficient. As part of the apprenticeship you will learn about different engineering principles including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and building management systems. At the end of all your hard work, you’ll have a Level 3 Diploma in Building Services Engineering for Technicians, a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment and an opportunity to become a qualified engineering technician (EngTech).
Can you imagine what it would be like to have an impact on the everyday journeys of those around you? Well as a transport planner you’ll be doing just that. Working alongside our network of experts, you’ll be helping to ensure that future transport and traffic plan designs continue to benefit the public and sustain the environment. Your responsibilities and possibilities will be endless! With the skills and knowledge gained from this apprenticeship, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a range of exciting projects, such as modelling transport systems or the development and implementation of travel planning schemes. At the end of all your hard work, you’ll have a Level 3 Diploma in Transport Planning along with the opportunity to become a qualified engineering technician (EngTech).
Can you imagine working with civil servants within national and local government? Well working as part of the Education Health and Care (EHC) team you could find yourself working in key government sectors of Education, Public Health and Social Care. Our work stretches from running training courses attended by individual teachers through to managing the £19m Adoption Support Fund on behalf of the government. You could be supporting our various project administration teams in the adoption application process or providing front-line support to all 152 Local Authorities on the new 30 hours Childcare policy. Maybe even supporting our project team in the Cayman Islands with preparing eforms, travel bookings and helping with sub consultancy agreements. This role will provide experience of contract processes, project management and provide an insight in to Local Authority / Government working and relationship management.
